What is a Wedding Coordinator

First, before we take a look at why you should hire a wedding coordinator for your Colorado wedding, we first need to cover exactly what a wedding coordinator is. You may have heard the term before, and you also may have heard of a wedding planner before. While they have similar titles, their jobs are very different. A wedding planner is with you from the moment you start planning your wedding up through the day of the wedding. Like their name suggests they are the masters of planning and helping you get plan out each detail of your wedding day. They can be extremely helpful, but wedding coordinators have a much different position and are for a different crowd of couples!

Wedding coordinators are your go-to person for making sure your day runs AS smoothly as possible. They’re perfect for couples who want to plan their own wedding day, but want someone else to be in charge of making sure that everything runs according to that plan. A wedding coordinator will work with you in the month or so leading up to your wedding day as well as work through your wedding day to keep things on track. They’ll create a timeline for you and your vendors to follow, make sure set up and tear down are taken care of, figure out transportation needs if necessary, and SO much more. There are so many good reasons to have a wedding coordinator on your vendor team, so let’s look at 5 of my favorites!

Why You Should Hire a Coordinator for Your Colorado Wedding

1. More Than Just Day-Of Coordination

While wedding coordinators may sometimes be referred to as ‘day-of coordinators’, that often isn’t really the case!! See, most Colorado wedding coordinators will be working with you to make sure that every part of your wedding day planning is where it needs to be in the month leading up to your wedding day. Some will start working with you even earlier than that! Having this sort of hands on help and guidance through your final steps of wedding planning is crucial for your sanity! Speaking of….

2. Less Stress for You!

If you’re in the middle of wedding planning, or know someone who’s gone through the process of planning a wedding, then you KNOW just how stressful it can be! Is it exciting to plan your wedding day and think about your life together with your partner? Absolutely! That doesn’t make it any less stressful as you try to coordinate your vendors and put together your timeline. Lucky for you a Colorado wedding coordinator, like Thoughtfully Curated Events who coordinated my couple Marissa and Shawn’s wedding, is going to be able to help you create your dream wedding day without all of the pressure weighing on your shoulders!!

3. They Allow Your Vendors to Do Their Jobs

As a wedding photographer in Colorado, I’ve seen a variety of different weddings. From elopements and intimate weddings, to massive celebrations of hundreds of people. With all this experience I can confidently say that every time one of my Colorado wedding’s had a coordinator it meant that ALL of the vendors could do their jobs better. I am no stranger to making last minute calls and helping adjust a timeline that isn’t working the day of, but that isn’t why you hire a photographer. My couple Mackenzie and Will knew this, which is why they hired Maggie Boesen Coordination as their wedding coordinator. Not only for their sanity, but also to allow their other vendors to do their best work, the work that they chose them for!!

4. Your Friends and Family Can Enjoy the Day

Your friends and family will of course want to help you on your wedding day, and nothing is stopping them from doing so! That being said, there is a clear difference between a professional Colorado wedding coordinator like A Touch of Bliss helping you craft your day, and your Aunt Lisa who is just trying to be there for you. Having a coordinator for your wedding will let your friends and family take the backseat and enjoy the day. This is less stressful to them, but much more importantly less stressful for you!! There’s always going to be smaller details that friends and family can help with on your wedding day as well, so they can still be involved in your day.

5. They Have YOUR Best Interests at Heart

Some venues come with a staff member known as a venue coordinator, which can confuse some couples to the point where they skip out on booking a wedding coordinator. While a venue coordinator will help you on your day, their main priority is the venue that they work for. With a Colorado wedding coordinator like Urban Events, you’re the one hiring them. This means that you and your wedding day are their priority! They are going to do everything in their power to make sure that your day runs as smoothly as possible while maintaining the vision of your wedding day that you’ve described to them!!
