6 of My Favorite Locations for a Colorado Engagement Session

If you’ve been following me for any amount of time then you probably have a PRETTY good idea at just how much I love Colorado! Living in this incredible state and photographing my amazing couples has been an absolute dream come true and I'm so excited to keep this party going!! With that in mind, and with engagement season around the corner, I thought it would be a good idea to look at some of my favorite locations throughout Colorado for engagement sessions. “But Katie, won’t that list be miles and miles long?” That’s true, if we went over every one of my favorite spots we’d be here quite literally ALL DAY, which is why we’re going to go over 6 of my favorites in the Denver area to give you a glimpse at what this gorgeous state has to offer! So let’s get into it!!

1. Downtown Denver

Starting off the list strong we have Denver’s downtown area! If you’ve ever visited Colorado before and you didn’t make the trek over to Denver you are seriously missing out!! Not only is this an incredible location for your engagement photos, but it’s also one of the best cities in Colorado hands down. From breweries and the art districts, to its parks and the botanic gardens, there is just SO much to see and do in downtown Denver. And like anywhere in Colorado, the natural beauty of the state surrounds Denver, meaning we can get a bit of nature in your session while also capturing the downtown city vibes! For a better look at what I mean check out Jeannie and Johnny’s fall engagement session!!

2. Mt. Falcon Park

Speaking of gorgeous landscapes just outside of Denver, next on our list of engagement session locations in Colorado is the breathtaking Mt Falcon Park! Found only half an hour from the heart of downtown Denver, Mt Falcon Park offers a wide array of hiking trails for you to explore and enjoy throughout your engagement session. From mountaintop views to rolling hills with the landscape of the mountains as your backdrop, each trail offers a different feel to it and a different setting for your photos!! The close proximity to the Denver area also gives Mt Falcon Park a boost as a location with how easy it is to travel to and from the park.

3. Breckenridge

Continuing on our journey west from Denver we have the lovely town of Breckenridge which is nestled in the mountains of the Rockies, and is an easy pick for this list!! A town with a rich history thanks to it’s ties to the gold rush, Breckenridge offers a ridiculous amount of charm while also giving you the option for hiking trails and other exploration nearby. The town is also a haven for skiing, so if you and your partner are all about that powder life a winter engagement session in Breckenridge would be a dream come true for you! We can take photos throughout the snow covered town and you both can enjoy weekend of skiing and celebrating your love for one another! No worries if winter sports aren’t your thing though, as Breckenridge is a wonderful location for your Colorado engagement session year round.

4. Frisco

Just north of Breckenridge lies the town of Frisco, a town on Dillon Lake that while on the smaller side still offers a TON for couples to enjoy during their engagement session. While, like Breckenridge, Frisco is known worldwide due to it’s appeal to the skiing crowd, there is a lot more to it than that. With a captivating downtown with an undeniable small-town charm, a lovely setting of the mountains surrounding the town, and the ease of access to Dillon Lake, it comes as no surprise that Frisco would make this list of amazing engagement session locations in Colorado.

5. Kenosha Pass

Switching it up from the small town appeal we have Kenosha Pass, an incredible hiking trail found near Jefferson Colorado. While Kenosha Pass is on the more popular side when it comes to hiking trails in Colorado, that shouldn’t discourage anyone from considering it for their engagement session location! Kenosha Pass offers some truly incredible forests to explore on its hiking trail as well as some top notch mountain views which easily earn it’s popular reputation. If the Kenosha Pass sounds like your cup of tea but you aren’t sure of the idea of other hikers being out and about during your engagement session consider having a winter engagement session here like Brittany and Shane! Their snow covered session was honestly so magical and still one of my favorites.

6. Boulder

Last and DEFINITELY not least is the amazing town of Boulder!! Found just outside the north end of Denver, Boulder is a city that really exudes the natural Colorado beauty that couples look for in an engagement session location. Like many cities in Colorado, Boulder offers a good mix of that downtown charm and style you can expect when visiting Colorado while also giving you SO many options to explore the natural beauty of the state. There are seriously so many different trails around Boulder that it can be hard to choose which is the best for you. Luckily with the help of your photographer (me!), we can find the trail that fits the vibe you’re going for in your session the best! To see what I mean take a peek at Cheyanne and Lance’s session that showcases the beauty of one of fields at Sawhill Ponds.
