Fall Elopement in Telluride, Colorado | Bre and Jodie

In the fall of 2023 I had the pleasure of heading to the San Juan Mountains to document 3 separate elopements! First was Shannen and Millie, then Nicolette and Frank, and today we get to talk about my 3rd and final elopement of that season, Bre and Jodie’s!! These two flew out to Colorado and traveled to Telluride for their elopement and were totally down for the adventure in store for them. Between their portraits in Telluride, the private vows under the snow covered San Juan Mountains, and the sheer beauty of the love these two have for one another, their elopement was one for the books!

"Katie made our day so special!! I’ve always felt like an unphotogenic person and she didn’t make me feel like that at all. The pictures we ended up with are amazing!!" -Bre

"Katie is an utmost professional. She went far above and beyond to help make our wedding day absolutely magical. I really couldn’t recommend her enough, just an incredible photographer!" -Jodie

Elopement Portraits in Telluride, Colorado

Bre and Jodie’s fall elopement in the San Juan Mountains began in the magical town of Telluride, Colorado. Well, not specifically in town as we actually started the day in the mountains looking out over Telluride! It was a fantastic start to the day, made all the more special by a couple who were Scottish musicians that offered to play them a wedding song while on the trail!! After making our way back into town via the free gondola ride, we had a bit of time for some portraits in Telluride. This is one of my favorite towns for couples portraits in ALL of Colorado. The scenery of the towering mountains looming over the small and charming town of Telluride is breathtaking no matter how many times you’ve experienced it!

Taking in the Scenery of Telluride

After taking their elopement portraits in the town of Telluride, Colorado, Bre, Jodie, and I made our way into some of the aspen groves surrounding the town for some more photos taking in the natural beauty of the area. From rolling fields that seemed to extend forever, to trails completely surrounded by the towering aspen trees, and of course stunning mountain views that the state is known for, there is just SO much to experience in Colorado! Thankfully Bre and Jodie were so down for the adventure, and the three of us had the best time exploring the landscape of the San Juan Mountains!!

Their Elopement Ceremony in the San Juan Mountains

The final touch of their day was their elopement ceremony surrounded by the snow covered peaks of the San Juan Mountains. Colorado really went all out for Bre and Jodie’s elopement in Telluride, as the combination of fall colors and snow covered mountains is my all time favorite! It gets even better though, as after Bre and Jodie’s private vows to one another and some newlywed portraits we were treated to the most gorgeous sunset. The San Juan Mountains never disappoint when it comes to elopement locations in Colorado, but this one was seriously next level!!

I still cannot get over just how incredible Bre and Jodie’s elopement in Telluride, Colorado was. From the picturesque setting of the San Juan Mountains, to the beautiful and captivating love these two share with one another, it’s an elopement that I’ll forever be grateful to have experienced and photographed!
