Snowy Fall Elopement in Red Rocks, Colorado | Karina and Jonathan

I know what you’re thinking, “Katie, this article has the wrong title, it’s clearly a winter elopement!” If you can believe it, Karina and Jonathan’s Red Rocks elopement was actually in October though!! Their day is the perfect example that you never REALLY know what you’re going to get in terms of fall weather. Thankfully this early taste of winter didn’t stop Karina and Jonathan from having THE best elopement day at Red Rocks!

Karina and Jonathan’s Review: “We hired Katie for our engagement session and elopement, and it was by far one the best and easiest decisions we made! Katie was super awesome to work with. She was responsive, incredibly helpful and accommodating, kind, professional, personable, and a lot of fun! Katie exceeded our expectations and captured memories we will cherish forever. Her work is stunning and we feel immensely lucky that she was available to capture our day! We highly recommend her!”

First Look, Private Vows, and a TON of Snow

Our original plan was to have the elopement later in the day, but the night before we made a last minute switch to move the ceremony time up so we could avoid the worst of the snowstorm. Yes, the snow that you’re seeing was FAR from the heaviest we got that day! Karina and Jonathan put their full trust in me and my process, and thankfully everything came together for them to have a magical day for their Red Rocks elopement!!

Karina and Jonathan’s day began with a first look between the two which was SO sweet! Seeing their faces light up as they saw one another for the first time made it immediately apparent that the two weren’t going to let the snowstorm take away from the joy of the day. After their first look Karina and Jonathan took a bit of time to read their private vows to one another. This intimate and romantic moment was made all the more incredible by the huge snowflakes falling all around us! It really set the scene for an emotional start to their elopement day!!

Their Elopement Ceremony and Portraits at Red Rocks

Immediately after sharing their private vows Karina, Jonathan, and I were then joined by their family for their elopement ceremony. With the snow falling all around, their families in attendance, and their fur baby at their side, Karina and Jonathan were able to share this incredible moment with those they love most! After the elopement ceremony we had a bit of time where we were able to take some snowy family portraits before heading off to Red Rocks for the newlywed portraits. The landscape of Red Rocks is strikingly beautiful, and the fresh snowfall only added to that beauty. Thanks to the snowstorm we had the park entirely to ourselves, making things all the more romantic and intimate for these two!
