Maddie and Luke were absolute TROOPERS for their sunrise engagement session at Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park! The three of us met up around 4 in the morning and hiked in the dark to make it to Dream Lake for sunrise. Doing this was quite the undertaking, but as you’ll see from the photos it was SO worth it!!

Rocky Mountain National Park Engagement Session

Being in Rocky Mountain National Park for a sunrise engagement session was such a unique and incredible experience. RMNP is a pretty popular national park, but at sunrise Maddie, Luke, and I practically had the place to ourselves! We made it to Dream Lake with plenty of time to spare for sunrise, and were treated with THE most perfect alpenglow!! Being right on the lake, with the mountains of the park looming overhead, and being totally alone created such a peaceful and romantic setting for Maddie and Luke’s session.

The duo planned in three separate outfits for their session for some variety. That combined with the lighting changing as the session went on, and some photos along the hiking path leading to Dream Lake, and I’m sure you’ll agree that their album turned out spectacular! Their session ended in the most lovely way, sipping coffee atop a hill while looking out over the mountains of the beautiful RMNP.

Planning Your RMNP Session

One of the MANY draws to Rocky Mountain National Park are the amount of incredible locations for an engagement session! You might be thinking there’s only Dream Lake here thanks to this gallery as well as Iva and Adam’s winter session, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth! RMNP has an astounding 355 miles of hiking trails to explore!! With so many trails and locations to choose from it can feel a bit daunting planning an engagement session here. I wrote this past article with this in mind and other common questions people have when it comes to RMNP. While it covers how to plan an elopement in RMNP, you can use much of the information when planning an engagement session as well!

And lucky for you, when you book me as your photographer my first hand experience allows me to recommend locations based off of the vision you have for your session! Dream Lake, Trail Ridge Road, and Moraine Park are some favorites of mine just to name a few.

Maddie and Luke’s engagement session in Rocky Mountain National Park was about as picturesque as a sunrise session can get! I’m so glad that these two chose me as their photographer, and that we toughed it out through a 4am hike. The photos and the experience itself were WELL worth it and I could not be happier!! Be sure to check out my blog to see some of my other fav galleries, and to book me for your own session you can send an inquiry through my contact page!
