5 Reasons You Need a Wedding Photo Album
In today’s digital age, where every one of your photos is accessible through a few taps on your phone, some couples may think that a traditional physical wedding album is unnecessary. I’m here to tell you that while the choice is definitely yours to make, there are a LOT of reasons to still get a physical wedding album in the year 2025 and beyond! I’ve talked about this a little bit in a previous article of mine as well, but today we’re taking a closer look at why getting a physical album for your wedding photos is something I feel almost every couple should do!!
1. Sometimes Physical is Just Better Than Digital
While the convenience of digital media is wonderful, sometimes a physical approach just feels right! In the same way that reading on a Kindle doesn’t feel the same as it does with a physical book, looking at your wedding photos on your phone, tablet, or your computer doesn’t feel the same as it does with a physical album. It feels so much more intentional and personal to flip through the pages together as you relive your favorite moments from the best day of your lives! While you can achieve something relatively similar through a screen, there always feels like there’s some sort of disconnect, and moments like your wedding deserve to be celebrated to the fullest!!
2. Your Wedding Album is Your First Family Heirloom
One thing that often gets overlooked when it comes to wedding albums is their heirloom nature! If you think about it, your wedding album is actually your first family heirloom!! I’m sure SO many of you out there have memories similar to mine of looking through your parents’ or grandparents’ wedding albums, smiling and laughing as you see firsthand what this day was like for them! As time goes on, those albums will be passed down for you to cherish and enjoy, and if you intend on having kids you’ll one day be able to share your families’ stories with them as well! Experiences like these just aren't the same when done through digital means, which leads nicely into point number three!!
3. A More Personal Way to Share Your Photos
After you get your wedding photos back, you’re going to want to share them and your friends and family are going to want to see them! While everyone loves to share their photos through social media, including yours truly, having a physical album of your wedding photos to share with people provides a much more personal experience!! Whether you invite friends and family over to page through the album with you, or you bring it along to the next function or gathering, a physical album is a great way for you and your loved ones to experience your wedding day together, especially if you eloped!!
4. A Quality Album Elevates the Experience
It’s worth noting that there is a difference not just between physical and digital albums, but also between the physical albums themselves. With my couples for example, I use a company called Miller’s, and they are phenomenal! The archival quality paper and cover materials they use for their Signature line of albums are SO luxurious, and really elevate your album’s quality. When compared to something that you could get at say Shutterfly or Walgreens there really is no competition here. The quality not only makes it more likely that you’ll want to use your wedding album as something like a coffee table book to display and have available, but it also elevates the overall experience of looking through your photos!
5. I’ll Handle the Hard Part for You!
One of the big hang ups that many couples have when it comes to whether or not they decide to get a physical album for their wedding photos is designing the album itself. That’s why I offer to handle this part for my couples!! That's right, I do all the design work for them so that they’re able to enjoy their time together as newlyweds! It also helps having been the one taking the photos as I’m arguably the only one who knows the full story of the wedding day as well as my couple does, so I’m able to design the album with a storytelling perspective in mind! This all means that my couples end up with a wonderfully designed wedding album that beautifully tells the story of their wedding day, all while they get to sit back and truly enjoy this new phase of life they’ve created together!!
Those are 5 reasons why I feel that getting a physical album for your wedding photos is a must even in today’s digital age! In a world that feels constantly online like ours, it’s important to celebrate incredible moments like your wedding day in a way that’s authentic and grounding! Thanks for reading, and if you happen to still be in the planning phases of your wedding be sure to send me an inquiry ASAP if you’re looking to have me document your day!!
