Dear Future Couples….(A letter from me, to you)

Dear future couple,

First things first: I gotta say that I am so thrilled that I get to be your photographer. I know that there are literally hundreds of photographers to choose from in Colorado, so the fact that you guys chose me really means the world to me! (Seriously, every time I book a new couple, I do a little happy dance and fist pump in the air!)

With that cheese out of the way, I want to get into the nitty gritty. I want you guys to know what you can expect from me as your professional third wheel/photographer!

The most important thing I can probably let you both know is that your wedding day is NOT about me, and it isn’t about my portfolio. Obviously I’m going to give you beautiful photos to hang on your wall, but I’m always going to be looking for candid moments, i.e. your Grandma crying when she sees you in your dress for the first time. My motto is ABC: Always Be Clickin’.

But really: it isn’t about me! If you and your boo want to hang out with your guests instead of sneaking outside for sunset portraits, I am not the photographer that’s going to force you guys to do it because “Omg the light is SO good right now!!”. But if you guys want to run off before the reception to just take a breather and maybe go say hi to your dogs or get a Slurpee from 7-11? I’m already behind the wheel, fam.

Another thing I want to tell you: your wedding is worthy of beautiful photos, no matter what it looks like. I know you’ve probably been bombarded by curated photos of styled shoots on Instagram or in magazines featuring the hottest wedding trends of the year. But you should know that whether your wedding is on a mountain top, in your neighborhood church, in a fancy mansion or your backyard, it doesn’t matter. You don’t have to have an “Instagram worthy” wedding. Your day is going to be beautiful because it’s what you wanted it to be, and it is worthy of being captured in an authentic way. That’s what I promise to do for you.

Another thing I want to promise you? I’m gonna make you feel comfortable. Besides making sure you get pretty pictures, making you feel comfortable is my TOP priority for you in your experience with me! I know that how you feel during your time in front of my camera is going to dictate how you feel about the photos themselves. I’ve got cheesy jokes on deck, ready to go, along with a flow that is going to make you guys feel like you’re professional models by the time we’re done!

Finally, I want you guys to know that I truly am in your corner during this whole experience. AND I’m gonna keep it real with you always. I really will cut through the bullshit and help you out when you need it, even if that’s just needing some dinner recommendations! Planning a wedding is wildly stressful, so just know that I’m more than a photographer: I’m part of your wedding planning support system!

Anyway, future couple, I hope you know just how thrilled I am to capture some memories for you to treasure for the rest of your lives.

ALWAYS in your corner,

Katie
