Colorado Elopement and Wedding Location Guide: Breckenridge

Recently I put together an article talking about Buena Vista, Colorado as it’s one of my favorite spots for both elopements and weddings alike! The truth is though that Colorado has SO many incredible places like this, places where couples are able to create their dream wedding and elopement experiences!! Knowing this, I thought it’d be fun to check out another one of my favorite spots in the state for both elopement and wedding celebrations: Breckenridge, Colorado. What makes Breck so great for celebrating your love, what are some of the best venues and locations to do so, and what else is there to do there? The answers to all these questions and more are below, so let’s jump right in!!

Why I Love Breckenridge, Colorado for Weddings and Elopements

When it comes to weddings and elopements in Colorado, Breckenridge gives couples that classic mountain wedding experience that the state is known for! The historic town is surrounded by some of the most stunning mountaintops in the state, hence why it’s SUCH a popular location for skiing, hiking, and an array of other outdoor activities that we’ll cover later on in this article. The different wedding venues and elopement spaces in and around Breckenridge all make the most of this serene beauty as well, assuring that a celebration in Breck is legitimately jaw dropping!

If that wasn’t enough though, the location of Breckenridge also makes it SO simple to get to for both you and your guests who may be traveling from out of state. The town is just under a 2 hour drive from the Denver International Airport, which is where you’ll most likely be flying into the state. This makes it incredibly simple to access, and the undeniable charm and large array of lodging and entertainment options make Breckenridge an awesome basecamp for ALL of your adventures!!

Out of This World Elopement Experiences

Breckenridge offers some of the most scenic locations for an elopement that you’ll find throughout all of Colorado. There are a ton of wonderful spots within Breckenridge, as the town is just bursting with character and offers beautiful mountain views to boot. Some of my favorite spots happen to be just outside of town though!

North of Breckenridge is the Dillon Reservoir, a gorgeous body of water surrounded by stunning mountain peaks at every angle. There are a ton of options to choose from around the reservoir, whether you want something simple or a little more adventurous! For the latter, why not take a sailboat tour and elope while on the waters of the reservoir itself? If you’d like to keep your feet on solid ground though, spots like Sapphire Point Overlook or Windy Point Campground are both remarkably beautiful and some of my favorite spots for a sunset elopement!!

There are plenty of other spots around Breckenridge for an elopement or intimate wedding ceremony such as Loveland Pass or Hoosier Pass, which are both incredible year round options! I do like to keep some of my favorites to myself though, so if you’re interested in a more private location at or around Breck, and would like me to document your experience and help you plan, head over to my contact page to send me an inquiry!!

Incredible Wedding Venues

In addition to the wonderful options for elopements found throughout Breckenridge and the surrounding area, there are also a TON of amazing wedding venues to choose from! Some of my favorite wedding venues include:

The Lodge at Breckenridge

One of the most scenic wedding venues around, The Lodge at Breckenridge is a phenomenal venue option for couples looking for an all inclusive experience. With a variety of packages available to choose from, space for up to 150 guests, in house catering and beverages, 57 guest rooms available, some jaw dropping mountain views, and SO much more, this is easily one of Breck’s best wedding venues!!

Breckenridge Ski Resort

Another phenomenal resort wedding venue combo found within Breckenridge is the Breckenridge Ski Resort! This resort offers 5 different venue options for couples to choose from, ranging in capacity from 100 to 200 guests, but they also host elopements and intimate celebrations! Add in their group lodging discounts, in-house catering, and the wonderful mountain views you’d expect, and this resort is a must have on your list of  potential wedding venues!!

Silverthorne Pavilion

Just about 20 minutes or so north of Breckenridge is the town of Silverthorne, home of the next wedding venue on my list! The Silverthorne Pavilion is a stylish, rustic wedding venue found on the Blue River that runs through the town of Silverthorne. The spacious wedding venue is capable of hosting intimate weddings and celebrations of up to 300 guests alike, and offers both indoor and outdoor spaces to give couples the freedom to make the most of their wedding day!!

Keystone Resort

The next wedding venue on my list is the Keystone Resort, which can be found about 20 to 30 minutes outside of Breckenridge! Found to the east of Silverthorne and the Dillon Reservoir, Keystone Resort is a haven for winter activities, but it also makes for a phenomenal wedding venue option! Much like the Breckenridge Ski Resort, the Keystone Resort offers 3 separate venue options with capacities ranging from 90 to 300 guests. Combined with the amenities offered, the service they provide, a breathtaking setting, and so much more to love, and it starts to become pretty clear what makes this resort such a great option!!

Copper Mountain Resort

Just about a half hour west of Breckenridge is the next wedding venue I want to cover, Copper Mountain Resort! Like many of the resorts on my list so far, Copper Mountain does the most in making sure their weddings are stress free, beautiful, and fun for their couples. With multiple venue options to choose from, plenty of spaces for you and your guests to stay at, and mountain views the resort is named after, Copper Mountain Resort has a LOT going for it as a wedding venue!!

Black Mountain Lodge at Arapahoe Basin

Finally, there’s the wonderful Black Mountain Lodge at Arapahoe Basin! This is one of my favorite wedding venues in the state, and is found only around 35 minutes or so from Breckenridge. I recently posted an article talking about a wedding that I had the chance to document here, so be sure to check that out for a closer look! It’s a gorgeous space that really feels like the pinnacle of what a Colorado mountain wedding can be!!

Tons of Lodging Options

One of the best aspects for planning a wedding or elopement in Breckenridge are the amazing lodging options found throughout the area! This is especially true for larger weddings, as it makes finding and choosing a place for your guests to stay SO much simpler! There are of course plenty of resorts to choose from, some that we’ve already taken a look at above, but the area also is home to many smaller, more intimate options as well. From rental homes, to cozy cabins and lodges, there’s plenty to choose from in Breckenridge and the surrounding towns of Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, and Copper Mountain!!

Endless Activities to Enjoy

Another reason why I love to recommend Breckenridge for weddings and elopements is the insane amount of activities there are to enjoy here year round!! Hiking, biking, boating, skiing, sledding, you name it! If there’s an outdoor activity that you enjoy or have always wanted to try, chances are you can do it in Breck! The great thing is that Breckenridge is well aware of its popularity as a destination for tourism, so they created a wonderfully designed site that lists out all the different seasonal activities you can enjoy during your time in Breck!

Personally, some of my favorite activities involve getting out there and enjoying the more seasonal offerings of the area! I’m a sucker for fall colors, so hikes in this area as the leaves are changing is one of my favorite things to experience in the state! Breckenridge is also an amazing summer wildflower destination, which I strongly encourage you to plan around if you intend on having a summer wedding!! All of this to say that you and your guests will have NO shortage of things to do during your time in Breckenridge, and there’s still more to enjoy that we’ll look at next!

Plenty of Indoor Attractions as Well

Whether you’re looking to keep things a little more lowkey, or you’re looking for a space to unwind after a day of adventure, you’re in luck as Breckenridge has you covered there too! From epic and historic breweries, to some truly delicious restaurant options, Breck spoils you and your guests with choices to enjoy. Some of my personal favorites are:

Winter Weddings and Elopements in Breckenridge

One final note I want to make before closing this article out is for anyone looking to have a wedding or elopement in Breckenridge during the winter. I’ve talked before about how Colorado is perfect for weddings year round, and that holds true for Breckenridge as well! Breck is a location that is VERY popular for its ski slopes and winter sports though, and this is something that will impact your planning process. Winter weddings and elopements in Breck are still very much possible (and absolutely dreamy), but you’ll need to act much earlier with your planning than you would during other seasons in terms of booking your venue and where you’ll be staying.

That’s about everything you need to know about planning an elopement or wedding in the amazing town of Breckenridge, Colorado! There’s of course a lot more that goes into planning a wedding or elopement though, like choosing vendors, creating your timeline, and so much more. Lucky for you I have PLENTY of other resources on my blog that you can use to assist you throughout the planning process. Finally, if you’d like some hands on help in planning your dream celebration send me an inquiry as I’d love to document your day and help to ensure that it’s the best it can be!!
