Intentional Wedding at the Fossil Trace Golf Club | Abbey and Billy

Not gonna lie, I’m kind of obsessed with Abbey and Billy’s wedding day! Even though it was in September of 2024, I still find myself dreaming about and relieving their wedding. From their goal of an “unpretentious yet classy vibe" for the celebration (which the Fossil Trace Golf Club fit perfectly mind you), to their inclusion of an epic adventure session after their wedding, I just can't get enough!! It’s why I’m so excited to share it here with you all today, and hope that their experience inspires other couples to consider an adventure session as part of their wedding day. First though, I wanted to give a quick shoutout to these two lovely people for the amazing review they left!!

“Hiring Katie was the best decision we made for our September 2024 wedding! Katie is very personable, organized, and professional. Katie's photography skills are incredibly broad from the traditional wedding day portraits to stunning landscapes. We decided to forego an engagement session and instead do an "adventure session" after our wedding... 10/10 would recommend an adventure session! Of note, since we chose not to do an engagement session, the first time we were in front of the camera with Katie was on our wedding day and she made us feel at ease right away. We are extremely happy with our photos and our overall experience of working with Katie, and I would recommend her to any family member or friend. Book her now before it's too late, you will not regret it!” - Abbey and Billy

Getting Ready and Their Wedding Ceremony at the Fossil Trace Golf Club

Abbey and Billy’s wedding day started with the two getting ready in the comfort of the Table Mountain Inn. The southwestern style of the Inn gives it a TON of charm, and with it only being a couple of miles from the Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden, Colorado it was the perfect space for the start of the day! The two got ready with the help and company of their loved ones, which was so sweet to document as you could quite literally feel the love in the air. Abbey had the sweetest first look with her father, after which we headed outside for a first look with Billy!!

With the sunbaked walls of the Inn as the backdrop, Abbey and Billy saw one another for the first time that day and it was magic! Billy’s face literally lit up as he saw Abbey, and it was one of the many points during the day where it was abundantly clear that these two are absolutely meant for each other.

Following their first look, we all made our way to the Fossil Trace Golf Club for their wedding ceremony. With gorgeously scenic views of the mountains of Golden around them, and their family and friends there to support them, Abbey and Billy shared their vows with one another before officially becoming newlyweds!! The beauty of this area can’t be overstated, but I also adore the personal touches Abbey and Billy included. The florals made by Abbey’s mom were stunning, and the veil she wore was made by Billy’s mom, both of which added SO much to the experience!

Celebrating Their Wedding at the Fossil Trace Golf Club

Following their ceremony, Abbey and Billy had some time to enjoy themselves before the indoor reception began. This meant they were able to mingle with their guests during cocktail hour which the two had SO much fun with! We also knocked out family portraits during this time, and even snuck off on one of the Fossil Trace Golf Club carts for some wedding portraits amidst the gorgeous fall colored landscape! There’s no shortage of stunning portrait locations in this area, and it wouldn’t be the last time we got to enjoy it today, but for now it was time to head back to the reception!

The indoor space of the Fossil Trace Golf Club is absolutely lovely, with a rustic yet classy feel to it that fit the vibe of Abbey and Billy’s day perfectly! There were so many moments that just felt perfect for these two wonderful humans! From the amazing speeches from their favorite people, to a night of dancing and celebration of epic proportions throughout the evening, to say their reception was a blast would be an immense understatement!! As I mentioned, we did have to sneak out a few times for portraits, once around sunset which was SO romantic, and once for some night portraits as well. It was an amazing day celebrating Abbey and Billy's love, but our time together wasn’t quite over!

A Post Wedding Adventure Session at Loveland Pass

I’m a HUGE fan of post wedding adventure sessions, so I was over the moon with excitement for Abbey and Billy’s after their wedding day at the Fossil Trace Golf Club! What’s more, the two chose to have their session in one of my favorite spots in Colorado, Loveland Pass!! The reason they chose Loveland Pass was for more than just the area's remarkably beautiful landscape, though that was a definite plus. Abbey and Billy actually met while skiing at A-Basin, and Billy even proposed there! Having their adventure session at Loveland Pass, which overlooks A-Basin, felt like the only logical choice for them!!

With the personal connection to the area, the immense beauty around us, and the wondrous alpenglow we were able to enjoy during the session, it’s safe to say it was a successful adventure on all fronts!!
