Undoubtedly one of my favorite locations for fall engagement photos in Colorado is the endlessly beautiful Guanella Pass! Sitting just about an hour outside of Denver, Guanella Pass has some of my favorite trails to hike, and is a literal dream location for engagement sessions. Michaela and Matt’s session took place here, and their photos are a perfect representation of what makes this space one of the most popular in Colorado!!

I immediately fell head over heels for Michaela and Matt’s love for one another. These two have a sweet, calm, yet bubbly love for one another that is SO much fun to document! Their engagement session began in Georgetown, Colorado with a cute little picnic surrounded by the vibrant yellows of the fall leaves. This simple start to our session was made all the more special when I found out that the picnic basket was Michaela’s grandmothers, which is SUCH a wonderful detail that makes their photos just that much more personal!! Documenting their love amidst the fall leaves was a welcome surprise, as we actually were pretty early in the fall season. Typically Guanella Pass changes colors a little later on in the fall, but the surprise was definitely a welcome one for their engagement photos!

It’s moments like this that show just how unpredictable Colorado seasons can be, and why booking a local photographer for your photos is something I strongly encourage!!

A Hike Through Guanella Pass in the Fall

After Michaela and Matt’s cute picnic in Georgetown, it was time to head into the pass itself. Guanella Pass is one of Colorado’s most iconic destinations for fall engagement photos for a number of reasons. For starters, the hiking trails of Guanella Pass are ridiculously scenic and easy to access thanks to the close proximity to Denver. The gorgeous natural landscapes also lend themselves beautifully to the fall season, creating a setting that is legitimately jaw dropping. Michaela, Matt, and I were able to hike Guanella Pass together, all the while celebrating this amazing love they’d found in one another. To cap off our adventure we were treated to a beautiful golden hour at the top of Guanella Pass, one of my all time favorite spots for photos!

I just can’t get over the magic of Michaela and Matt’s engagement photos in Guanella Pass last fall! Every part of their session fell into place perfectly, and I’m so glad to have been able to document it all!!
